NPU completes most successful United Way fundraising campaign

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has completed its most successful employee fundraising campaign ever and will provide $39,114 to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut in 2020.  Both the total dollars raised and percentage of employee participation (109, or 77%) have exceeded any other level of support by NPU.

NPU to extend agreement with MUTA to supply water for 10 years

August 27, 2019 – The Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) Board of Commissioners authorized General Manager Chris LaRose to execute a contract to extend the utility’s agreement to provide water to the Mohegan Utility Tribal Authority for the next ten years.

NPU recognized as Smart Energy Provider by American Public Power Association

November 14, 2019 – Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has earned a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association for demonstrating commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives that support a goal of providing low-cost, quality, safe, and reliable electric service.

NPU to provide ‘Day of Caring’ for Thames River Place

October 15, 2019 – As part of its celebration of Public Power Week, Public Gas Week and Customer Service Week, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) announced that it will provide a ‘Day of Caring’ for Thames River Place on Friday, October 18.

Major energy efficiency project at Shannon Building earns $61,708 rebate from NPU

On September 3, 2019, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) presented a check for $61,000 to Sovereign Management, the owners of the Shannon Building in Downtown Norwich, following the completion of a significant energy efficiency project. As a result of the project, the owner’s annual energy costs will be reduced by $82,000.

NPU completes largest natural gas project of the year

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has completed its largest natural gas construction project for the 2019 construction season, replacing 5,800 feet of natural gas main along Hamilton Avenue between East Main Street and Smith Avenue.
