As of 10:00 this morning, we have approximately 4,000 customers out of service, down from a peak of more than 6,500 last night.

August 3, 2020 – With Tropical Storm Isaias headed toward New England on Tuesday, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has taken several steps to be prepared for any customer emergencies or power outages.

NPU to conduct mandatory inspection of natural gas meters

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is working with Precision Pipeline Solutions to perform safety inspections on our natural gas meters in your neighborhood as required by the State of Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).  This is a mandatory safety inspection that will take only a few minutes to perform.

NPU begins annual hydrant flushing program

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) will begin the annual flushing of its water system for the year on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 and expects to have the work complete by the end of September.

Water notices for businesses reopening following pandemic closure

As businesses affected by the pandemic begin to reopen, NPU wants to remind our commercial customers who were closed for that past several weeks that water inside your building’s plumbing has likely become stagnant during this time.   This water can become unsafe to drink or otherwise use for domestic or commercial purposes.
