Congressman Courtney visits NPU to discuss federal investment opportunities

Congressman Joe Courtney visited Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) in November to discuss a variety of infrastructure and economic development projects that could be suitable for federal investment in light of the bill recently signed into law by President Biden. The NPU projects span all four utility services – natural gas, electric, water, and wastewater, in addition to projects that could support economic development in Norwich in the years ahead.

Customers appreciate NPU response to Tropical Storm Henri

In August, Southeastern Connecticut was struck by Tropical Storm Henri, which at its peak produced sustained winds of 40 mph and heavy rain, resulting in more than 2,500 NPU customers losing power during the height of the storm. Eighth Street water main project successfully completed

In August of 2021, NPU successfully completed one of our most difficult water main repair projects ever – the replacement of a 20-foot section of water main under the railroad tracks on Eighth Street in Greeneville.

Norwich to consider Pension Obligation Bonds this November

In August, the Norwich City Council adopted an ordinance in the amount of $145,000,000 in connection with the issuance of general obligation pension bonds to fund the liabilities of the City of Norwich Employees’ Retirement Plan. The Council also voted to submit the appropriation and bonding authorization to the voters of Norwich for approval at a referendum to be held in conjunction with the November 2, 2021 election.
