NPU will conduct a public informational meeting on August 1, 2018 at 6 PM at 16 South Golden Street, Norwich, on the updated draft of its existing Combined Sewer Overflow Long Term Control Plan (CSO/LTCP).  This is being done in accordance with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) Clean Water Fund regulations. Residents, property owners and any other interested parties are invited to attend.

The CSO/LTCP is the planning document for the construction of sewer improvements which establish the overall direction for NPU’s wastewater system upgrades. This plan is being developed to comply with an enforcement action by the CT DEEP related to CSOs and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) related to sanitary sewer overflows.

This public informational meeting will include a presentation on the revisions to the original CSO/LTCP dated June 6, 2012, as well as the schedule of work to be completed by NPU. The purpose of the meeting is to share information and solicit input from the public for consideration prior to finalizing the plan and securing final approval from CT DEEP.

The public informational meeting will also inform the public of possible subterranean easements that may be required for this important work to move forward.

On or after July 25, 2018, a copy of the draft CSO/LTCP will be available for review at NPU’s Administrative Offices at 16 South Golden Street, Norwich, CT 06360, or viewed on the NPU website at www.norwichpublicutilities.com.
