October 3, 2022 – Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is recognizing three celebratory weeks during the week of October 2-8, marking Public Power Week with the American Public Power Association as well as National Public Natural Gas and National Customer Service Weeks.

“These three designations are an opportunity for our employees and our customers to reflect on the unique role that NPU has in the day-to-day lives of our community,” said Chris LaRose, General Manager of NPU. “Every one of our employees plays an important role in anticipating and meeting the needs of our customers, every minute of every day, throughout the year,” said LaRose.

To mark these events, NPU is making a $1,000 contribution to the Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) to support the organization’s energy assistance programs. TVCCA is a private, non-profit community leader in advocating for and meeting the needs of the region’s economically and otherwise disadvantaged citizens.

Public Power Week is an event developed by the American Public Power Association (APPA) to celebrate the 2,000 community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities like NPU that collectively provide electricity to 49 million Americans.

National Public Natural Gas Week is designed to build public awareness about the value of having a community-owned natural gas utility. There are approximately 1,000 public natural gas systems in the United States, serving more than 6 million customers.

The Professional Associations for Customer Engagement (PACE) advocates for and promotes best practices, emerging technologies, and leadership to and by customer professionals. National Customer Service Week (NCSW) was established as a national event by Congress in1992.
