Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is pleased to announce the successful completion of its 2019 fundraising campaign to support the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.
Through the generosity of 106 employees, nearly 75% of the NPU workforce, the United Way will receive $31,007 through payroll deductions and one-time contributions in 2019.
“The men and women of NPU continue to demonstrate their commitment to the community we serve by donating their time and money, year after year,” said Chris LaRose, Acting General Manager of NPU. ”I am proud to lead such a caring and committed group of individuals.”
Of the NPU participants in the United Way campaign, six employees committed to contribute $1,000 in 2019.
Since 2014, NPU employees have pledged and contributed $191,881 to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. That year, the NPU participation rate was 63% and just over $25,000 was raised.
As part of this campaign, NPU is providing the United Way with a $3,000 sponsorship for its 2019 campaign.
The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut has four priority areas: community wellness, thriving children, basic needs and promoting wellness. Organizations that have been designated by NPU employees for support include United Community & Family Services (UCFS), the ARC of New London County and the Gemma Moran Mobile Food Pantry Program, which has two distribution stops in Norwich each month.
