March 11, 2019 – NPU has been made aware of an issue affecting some customers who pay their utility bill online with a credit card. Although the payment is correctly credited to NPU, the online receipt may show the Norwich Fire Department’s name and address. The Fire Department may also show as the payee on the credit card statement.

This is an external issue caused by the credit card company. Some credit card companies use geo-mapping to locate the address of the company being paid. In this case, the system is choosing the Norwich Fire Department location instead of NPU’s address.

Because the payment is transferred electronically, NPU does receive the payment, not the Norwich Fire Department.

Unfortunately, because this is an issue caused by the credit card company, NPU cannot resolve this problem for our customers.

If you see the wrong address on your receipt, please call your credit card company directly to report this issue. Most credit cards have a phone number on the back of the card to call for customer service.
