Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has launched  ’CHIPP’, an incentive program that aims to help our existing electric customers that heat primarily with oil or propane gas to convert to a more energy-efficient electric cold-climate air source heat pump system. 

NPU provides Reliance Health with $28,145 rebate for energy-efficiency project

On Tuesday, February 18, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) presented Reliance Health with a rebate for $28,145 following the successful completion of a large-scale energy efficiency project.  As a result of this project, Reliance Health will realize a savings of more than $12,000 on their annual energy costs.

Major energy efficiency project at Shannon Building earns $61,708 rebate from NPU

On September 3, 2019, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) presented a check for $61,000 to Sovereign Management, the owners of the Shannon Building in Downtown Norwich, following the completion of a significant energy efficiency project. As a result of the project, the owner’s annual energy costs will be reduced by $82,000.

NPU completes largest natural gas project of the year

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has completed its largest natural gas construction project for the 2019 construction season, replacing 5,800 feet of natural gas main along Hamilton Avenue between East Main Street and Smith Avenue.

NPU schedules flushing of water system for 2019

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) will begin the annual flushing of its water system for 2019 during the week of July 15. This work is expected to be complete by early September.

Online Bill Payment Site Maintenance

NPU’s online bill payment site will be temporarily unavailable during system maintenance on Sunday, June 30, 2019 between 5 AM – 8 AM.  This work is necessary to conduct upgrades to the operating system and firewalls. A maintenance message will appear during this time to any customer who attempts to pay online while the system is down.If you have any questions, please call NPU at 860-887-2555.

NPU breaks ground on emergency interconnection water project for Sprague

May 14, 2019 – Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for an emergency interconnection water line that will serve the Town of Sprague. The unique partnership provides NPU with additional state resources while allowing Sprague to avoid the cost of installing the water line on its own.
