NPU efficiency programs provide commercial customers with more than $900,000 in benefits in 2017

Strong results from NPU efficiency programs include $598,408 in rebates, $303,900 in savings going forward.

In 2017, more than 50 commercial customers of Norwich Public Utilities earned $598,408 in rebates for investing in energy-efficient products and equipment. And in addition, these customers will save $303,900 in energy costs over the lifetime of the improvements they have made in their facilities.

Energy efficiency projects included interior and exterior lighting, improvements to heating, cooling and air conditioning systems, and involved both new construction and renovation projects.

A wide range of NPU customers participated in the program in 2017: Advanced Auto Parts, United Families and Community Service (UCFS), PlasPak Industries, the Norwich Free Academy, Backus Hospital and The Lofts at Ponema Mills, among others.

NPU also worked with the City of Norwich on a number of efficiency projects that will reduce utility costs for the Norwich Police Department, the City of Norwich / City Hall, and the Main Street Parking Garage.
