With $90,650 in rebates in Q4, program continues to support local businesses

NPU completed another very successful year of providing programs and services to help Commercial and Industrial customers save money on their energy bills each month – in addition to earning significant rebates.

Throughout 2016, 55 commercial customers earned $402,000 in rebates from NPU for installing energy efficient lighting and equipment. This represents an increase of more than 9% from the 2015 total of $367,000.

Eight Commercial and industrial customers of NPU participated in efficiency programs during the fourth quarter of 2016, $90,650 in rebates for installing energy efficient lighting and equipment. In addition to the rebates, these customers will also save an estimated $55,142 on their bills each year as a result of the steps they are taking to improve their energy efficiency.

Coreplus Credit Union including energy efficient equipment as part of a major renovation to their corporate headquarters and earned $11,731.

Lighting upgrades at five of Norwich’s public schools (Mahan, Veterans, Stanton, Huntington and Uncas) earned the City of Norwich and the Board of Education a rebate of $8,697.

NPU provides rebates to business customers for replacing traditional incandescent lighting with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and high-efficiency T8 linear fluorescent tubes. NPU customers receive rebates of 35% for the purchase of high efficient lamps and ballasts.

NPU also offers a 0% interest loan program for lighting upgrades with local lenders.
