15 customers leverage rebate programs for energy-efficient lighting, equipment

Commercial and industrial customers of NPU continue to take advantage of efficiency programs in the second quarter of 2016, with 15 customers earning nearly $130,000 in rebates for installing energy efficient lighting and equipment.

In addition to the rebates, these customers will also save an estimated $83,000 in utility costs each year as a result of the steps they are taking to improve their energy efficiency.

The Otis Library earned $43,359 in rebates for the successful completion of a large-scale interior lighting upgrade, which will also save the organization nearly $20,000 a year.

Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) also completed significant efficiency upgrade projects, earning a rebate of $74,472. In addition to a number of lighting upgrades, the college upgraded six condensing boilers that will help the college to operate in a much more efficient manner. Collectively, these improvements will reduce the energy costs at TRCC by $17,745 annually.

NPU provides rebates to business customers for replacing traditional incandescent lighting with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and high-efficiency T8 linear fluorescent tubes. NPU customers receive rebates of 35% for the purchase of high efficient lamps and ballasts.
