Passport to Norwich offers the best of the Rose City

By Mayor Peter Nystrom

With more and more of our community opening up this summer, there is no better way to enjoy the best of what Norwich has to offer than the Passport to Norwich program. Through a great collaborative effort led by US Foods, City of Norwich, The Norwich Community Development Corporation, Norwich Historical Society, Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce, and Miranda Creative, we are very proud to introduce this fun and adventurous way to experience the many outstanding restaurants in our city.

The Passport to Norwich program encourages everyone to explore our historic walking trails and scenic places, dig into new dishes at our culturally diverse restaurants, and discover the area’s best-kept secrets.

Participants can collect 20 stamps on their “Norwich passport” for a chance to win a $250 restaurant gift card; stamps are available each time you visit one of more than 50 participating Norwich restaurants and spend at least $10. Once you collect 20 stamps, you will have a chance to other great prizes – totaling $10,000 – provided by US Foods. Five drawings will be held each month between August and December, 2021. In January of 2022, 15 additional winners will be selected.

There is no limit to the number of passports that can be filled – so you and your families can explore all of the great food spots across Norwich for the rest of 2021. Save your receipts for take-out orders and stop by the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce and they will issue you a stamp.

You can pick up and return completed passports at The Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce, 187 Main Street, The Mayor’s Office in Norwich City Hall, 100 Broadway and at Foundry66, 66 Franklin Street. Passports must be submitted by December 31, 2021 to qualify for a chance to win a $250 restaurant gift card from US Foods. In order to qualify for a chance to win, all 20 stamp slots must be stamped.

The strength of Norwich has always been our sense of community – the willingness for people to work together – along with our diversity of cultures, foods, music, ideas, and traditions. The Passport of Norwich brings all of these elements together while supporting dozens of restaurants who have been working extremely hard to get through the pandemic.

Please join me in visiting as many of the participating restaurant in the Passport of Norwich program in the coming months.
