10 Commercial customers earn $78,000 in Q1 rebates
Ten commercial customers of NPU completed 19 efficiency upgrade projects in the 1st Quarter of 2018. These customers earned rebates of just over $78,000.
The total project costs to these customers was $276,628 but they will save a collective $25,417 annually on their electric bills as a result of making these investments.
First quarter highlights include a project with Eastern Savings Bank which included a lighting upgrade as well as heating and cooling through NPU’s Cool Choice rebate program. Other renovations for new tenant space were completed at 101 Water St., owned by the Capano family.
Tilcon CT, Inc. received a rebate of $9,000 for the installation of a 3 MBTU, 98% efficient gas water heater, replacing a thirty-year old tank. Tilcon now plans to upgrade the lighting in the plant to LED.
New construction of the State Department of Transportation facility on Rt. 97 included LEDs throughout and an upgrade in the existing Salt Shed.
Norwich Free Academy continues to make progress in swapping out to LEDs in common areas, hallways and stairwells lighting across the campus.
The city of Norwich upgraded the Asylum St. Fleet Maintenance Building to LEDs and hopes to upgrade the Public Works building next.
