NORWICH – On Monday, April 24, 2023 Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) will begin its annual process of undertaking the federally mandated safety inspections of customer natural gas service lines and meters.
NPU has hired Precision Pipeline Solutions (PPS) to complete this survey. All inspectors will have proper identification badges with the NPU and PPS logos as seen below. Upon your request, inspectors will wear a face mask and gloves while inside your home or business.
If your natural gas meter is outside of your residence, the inspection can be completed without your assistance. If you have an inside natural gas meter and are not home, we will leave a doorhanger and/or postcard with information on how to schedule an appointment at a convenient time.
Unless you have scheduled your inspection to occur outside normal business hours, inspectors will only conduct this work between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
This is a mandatory safety inspection that will take only a few minutes to perform. If we cannot comple the safety inspection in a timely manner, we will be required to turn off your natural gas service.
