Norwich, CT - Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is hosting an event to provide customers with information on its Cooling & Heating Incentive Pilot Program (CHIPP) on Wednesday, November 12 at 5:00 at the Norwich Senior Center at 8 Mahan Drive in Norwich.
Through the CHIPP program, NPU customers can have a cold-climate electric heat pump installed that provides both warm, reliable heating in the winter and refreshing cooling in the summer, while lowering long-term energy costs and eliminating the need for oil or propane deliveries.

NPU’s CHIPP program is helping customers prepare for the colder months with CHIPP, a cost-saving initiative offering rebates and financing options for new energy-efficient heat pump systems. More than 300 NPU customers have taken advantage of this the program, saving an average of 15-30% on the costs of installation, in addition to savings on their energy costs.
NPU’s CHIPP program incentives include:
- $1,200 per ton rebate for qualifying heat pump installations
- Up to $2,000 rebate for integrated controls (if required)
- Up to $1,100 rebate for an ENERGY STAR® heat pump water heater installed with the new system
