Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) sets its rates based on the cost of providing safe and reliable services to our customers year-round. Following the three-year rate plan approved by the NPU Board of Commissioners in 2022, new rates will take effect on November 1, 2025:
- Electric: +2.3%
- Natural Gas: +3.5%
- Water: +7.3%
Due to the size and complexity of our wastewater treatment plant project, sewer rates are reviewed annually. Following the Board’s September 2025 vote, sewer rates will increase by 17.5%, or about $15.94 per month for a typical residential customer. Overall, a four-service residential customer can expect an average increase of about $26.89 per month (roughly 90 cents per day). Even with these adjustments, NPU rates remain very competitive compared to investor-owned utilities in our region.
