August 3, 2020 – With Tropical Storm Isaias headed toward New England on Tuesday, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has taken several steps to be prepared for any customer emergencies or power outages.

NPU to conduct mandatory inspection of natural gas meters

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is working with Precision Pipeline Solutions to perform safety inspections on our natural gas meters in your neighborhood as required by the State of Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).  This is a mandatory safety inspection that will take only a few minutes to perform.

NPU Guidance – Extreme Weather This Week

With temperatures likely to exceed 90 degrees in Norwich and the humidity expected to increase, NPU expects demand for electricity to be very high through the middle of the week. Annual gas infrastructure safety inspection underway

In May NPU began its annual process of undertaking the federally mandated safety inspections of customer natural gas service lines and meters. The survey takes about four months to complete.
