Starting the week of October 15, 2018, three employees from Vanguard Utility Services will be continuing the deployment of automated metering infrastructure, better known as AMI meters, for water and electric customers. They will start with water meters.
NPU claims Lineworker Rodeo title for third straight year
For the third consecutive year, a three-man lineworker team from Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has won the Lineworkers Rodeo, an annual event hosted by the New England Public Power Association (NEPPA) in Littleton, MA on September 20 and 21.

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is sending 13 employees to assist with the response to a series of natural gas explosions on Thursday evening in Lawrence, Andover and North Andover, Massachusetts. Media reports indicate there were 60-80 fires and 40 homes damaged in the communities which are served by Columbia Gas.

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has received three national commendations from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for its mutual aid efforts in Puerto Rico, Florida and the US Virgin Islands in 2017 and 2018.
NPU to replace natural gas main on 8th Street canal bridge
On Wednesday, August 29, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) will begin the work of replacing an 80-foot span of natural gas main that traverses the 8th Street Canal Bridge in the Greeneville section of Norwich.
NPU to upgrade natural gas infrastructure along West Thames Street
On Monday, July 23, crews from Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) will begin a project to replace nearly 2,000 feet of cast-iron natural gas piping with safer, modern piping. This work will take place along West Thames Street, from Dunham Street to Bushnell Place and should be complete by October.
