NPU participates in State’s Emergency Planning & Preparedness Initiative

On June 20, NPU hosted and participated in the annual statewide Emergency Planning and Preparedness Initiative under the direction of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.

The exercise simulated the preparation, response and recovery from a multi-day, severe weather event. The exercise included a realistic scenario of a hurricane and other severe weather events that impacted Connecticut and included long-term power outages, trees and wires down, major flooding, road closures and communications challenges.

NPU was joined by the City Manager and representatives from the City’s Departments of Fire, Police, Public Works, Human Services, Public Schools and Emergency Management, as well as the Uncas Health District and American Ambulance.
