NPU proposes lower electric rates, continued investment in the safety, health of our community

Norwich Public Utilities recently presented its proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2017 to our Board of Commissioners. If approved, most NPU customers would see lower bills through a decreased electric rate while we make important investments in our infrastructure, with a particular focus on our water and wastewater facilities.

Commercial customers continue to leverage NPU rebate programs

17 customers earn $110,000 in rebates by switching to energy-efficient lighting, equipment

Seventeen NPU Commercial and Industrial customers participated in the efficiency programs offered by NPU during the first three months of 2016, earning $110,695 in rebates. These customers will also save nearly $100,000 on their energy bills each year as a result of the measures taken to improve their energy efficiency.

“We continue to have great success in helping our commercial and industrial customers earn rebates while saving money every month,” said Fawn Walker, NPU’s Energy Efficiency Programs Coordinator. “And while we’ve done in the past, we know there are still more customers that we can help – and hope to do so throughout the rest of this year.”

Ductless HVAC systems can save your business money all year

NPU offering customers DOUBLE rebate through October for qualifying equipment

Electric heat and cooling pumps are one of the most efficient HVAC systems available and can lower energy costs by up to 30% when compared to standard heating and cooling systems.

NPU is offering customers a double rebate of up to $600 per ton on qualifying ductless heat pumps and central air systems through October, 2016. Units that provide both will provide an even quicker payback for customers.
