Utilities tradition of mutual aid must extend to cyber security

One of the most enduring and important traditions in the utility industry is the practice of providing mutual aid in the event of a large-scale emergency. For as long as utility companies have been around, if one organization is operating at or close to normal conditions, they will reach out to another utility with personnel and equipment to assist with restoration efforts if needed.

Tips from SBA on typical office equipment

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is a great resource on a variety of issues that impact all types of businesses throughout the year. Recently, the SBA offered a few simple tips on using typical office equipment that can positively impact monthly utility bills and a company’s bottom line.

13 Commercial customers take advantage of NPU rebate programs in Q4 of 2015

$109,150 rebated to customers for switching to energy-efficient lighting

Thirteen Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers of NPU participated in the Lighting Retrofit Program and earned $109,150 in rebates for the fourth quarter of 2015. These customers will also save more than $82,000 annually on their energy bills as a result of installing more efficient interior and exterior lighting.

“We are very pleased with the continued success of our commercial efficiency programs,” said Fawn Walker, NPU’s Energy Efficiency Programs Coordinator. “With a little bit of time and effort, companies can save money and energy every month while earning a nice rebate from NPU just by switching to more energy-efficient lighting.”

Small Potatoes Artisan Crafts & Unique Gifts

For years, Norwich native Erica Sullivan-Corbett was an amateur crafter who dabbled in a wide range of projects, such as making jewelry and candles, and she often gave her work as gifts to friends and family.  Because she knew there were many other talented artisans in the region, Erica decided to develop a business that would allow the creativity of others to be put on display.
