NPU honored with national award for reliable electric operations

John BildaNorwich Public Utilities (NPU) is among a small group of public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA), which made the announcement on May 18. The RP3 designation lasts for three years; NPU was also recognized in 2012.

Ponemah Mill project receives critical funding

View of Ponemah MillsIn 2007, Onekey, LLC, a private developer from New Jersey acquired the main building in the Ponemah Mill complex located in the Taftville village of Norwich. They envisioned creating a mixed-use, mixed-income adaptive reuse project for the historic mill building located on the banks of the Shetucket River.

NPU starts construction on 2nd CNG fueling station

In June, NPU broke ground on a new $1.8 million compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle fueling station, a project funded in large part through a grant from the Federal Highway Administration.

10 Commercial customers take advantage of NPU rebate programs in Q2

Ten Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers of NPU participated in the Lighting Retrofit Program and earned $128,800 in rebates for the second quarter of 2015. These customers will also save more than $60,000 annually on their energy bills as a result of installing more efficient lighting.
