 August 21, 2014 – Due to an increase in the cost of electricity purchased by Norwich Public Utilities (NPU), residential and commercial customers will see an increase in bills arriving in September. Despite this adjustment, NPU customer bills will be comparable to those paid in January, 2011.

Water Distribution System Maintenance

 Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has contracted with Wachs Water Services to service water main valves in the water distribution system. This work is part of necessary ongoing annual maintenance required to ensure the integrity of our water distribution system. Water main valves are used to isolate sections of a water main during a break as well as to regulate water pressure.

Natural Gas Distribution Survey

 

July 3, 2014 - Norwich Public Utilities has completed the Mobile Survey/Patrol and has started the Business District / Public Building Walking Survey.

April 25, 2014- Norwich Public Utilities has contracted with Precision Pipeline Solutions (PPS) to conduct its annual mobile natural gas main survey and patrol. PPS staff will be driving a grey Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck with a New York license plate. The truck is equipped with signage identifying it from PPS, it is marked as a survey vehicle (on the rear of the vehicle) and it will be labeled as a contractor working for NPU. The driver will also have a badge available identifying him as a contractor working for NPU.

April 17, 2014 – Norwich Public Utilities is proud to announce that General Manager John Bilda has been invited to participate at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Quadrennial Energy Review (QER) public meeting to be held on April 21, 2014.  Bilda will be a panelist on the Infrastructure Needs, Challenges, and Solutions panel.

NPU Plans Gas Expansion in 2014

February 13, 2014 - Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is planning its natural gas expansion efforts for the 2014 construction season. Norwich property owners who are interested in converting their homes to natural gas are asked to contact NPU by April 15th to verify eligibility and guarantee a spot on our 2014 schedule.

As a result of price changes to the wholesale cost of electricity, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) will be increasing the Purchase Power Adjustment (PPA) on all electric bills rendered on or after February 1, 2014.  The PPA is multiplied by all kilowatt-hours billed and reflected as a separate line item on your electric bill.
