Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) is making sure the necessary employees, equipment and materials are in place ahead of the blizzard expected to hit the region throughout the day on Tuesday. With high winds more than a foot of snow possible, NPU has been preparing for a significant weather event throughout the day on Monday.

For the second consecutive year, a three man utility crew from Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has won the annual skills competition held by the Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA).  The tenth annual event attracted 13 teams from across New England to complete in six events and was held at the NEPPA training center in Littleton, MA on September 15-16.

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) Division Manager Jeff Brining was recently presented with a Patriot Award by Tom Pandolfi, Vice Chair of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Basic conservation measures urged as heat and humidity continue.

With the continued stretch of hot and humid weather impacting the region, Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has issued a Power Alert, effective between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Monday, July 25, 2016. 
 
NPU is asking both residential and commercial customers to use electricity wisely this afternoon and evening. A decrease in the demand for electricity will minimize the overall stress and strain on NPU’s electrical infrastructure while the high temperatures persist.
