NPU indroduces enhanced online bill pay service

 Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) has launched a new online billing and payment service through Invoice Cloud, offering its customers greater ease and flexibility to view and pay their utility bills each month.

“NPU is always looking for ways to improve customer service and efficiency and by working with Invoice Cloud, we are doing both,” said John Bilda, General Manager of NPU. “Our customers now have an easier and safe way to pay their bills online each month and we look forward to additional options for our customers in the months to come.”

NPU’s new payment system has several advantages for customers, including:

  • The new system is easier to use and navigate;
  • Payments are reflected in real time, which will reduce the volume of calls to the Customer Service Center;
  • A single vendor will now process payments (NPU previously utilized two vendors);
  • A one-time payment option without registration is available;
  • NPU’s Customer Service Representatives now have the ability to view the customer-facing site

The new payment portal, available on the NPU website, will provide customers with quick access to their account to review bills, check their balances, make payments and enroll in paperless billing. Features include an ‘at a glance’ dashboard, email reminders, linking multiple accounts, and more automatic payment options such as choosing a specific day for payments to process.

The switch to Invoice Cloud will provide NPU customers with improved reporting, faster posting of payments and more opportunities to expand payment options in the future.

In time, NPU is considering options that will allow customers to make phone payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through an automated payment line; the utility is also considering an option to allow customers to pay via a text message from a mobile phone.
