About Us

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) provides four utilities to the City of Norwich – natural gas, electricity, water and wastewater collection. Established in 1904, NPU is municipally-owned and governed by a five member Board of Commissioners and Sewer Authority, who represent the best interest of the citizens they represent.

NPU operates a full service Customer Service Center, allowing our customers the option of speaking directly to a customer service representative for any account issue. Additionally, NPU’s control room is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to any utility emergency within 30 minutes or less.

Regulatory Information

As a municipal department of the City of Norwich, Norwich Public Utilities follows the regulatory guidelines established by the Norwich City Charter, Chapter XII. To access information about the Charter, see http://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientId=11363.
